Meet the Bride's Guards: Ashley Williford

Ashley and I have known each other since junior high but we didn't become friends until Grad Night at Disneyland. Our friends had decided that they all wanted to hang out in big groups. We thought this sounded miserable. Our friends got mad at us for going off, just the two of us to play. It turns out we were right and groups of fifteen are miserable at Disneyland and Ashley an I became partners in crime from that day forward.

We are adventuring buddies. We explore new places and try new things together. If it looks like there is a chance for fun and mischief, we are there. Our mischief took up on a fantastic trip to Ireland in 2009. So much fun! Ashley is my buddy. I love and miss her dearly and look forward to all our future adventures. :)

Ashley is also the most athletic person I know. She rides her bike as her main source of transport, she loves to hike, she is an artist of aerial silks, is a great shot in the archery range and always has list the length of my arm of hobbies. I try my best to keep up with her but that is a difficult task.

What's your favorite color? Any shade of green and turquoise
If money wasn't an object, what would you do with your life? Hit the road and travel the world. I'd be that weird cycling hobo who some how ended up in the Ankor Thom after 'scending Mt. Everest. Covered in paint. Seriously, a bike, a camera, and my sketch pad, and a world to explore. Then once I'm done with that I'd create a communal work/living space for myself and my loved ones in a place like Hawaii or Costa Rica.
What is a fun fact about you that not many people know? Hmm, tough one. I've got a patch of freckles on my thigh, most common misconception is that it's cancer or a bruise.
What is your life motto? If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try.
What person from history do you most identify with and why? I'm not sure about identify with, but I idolized folks like Sally Ride and Ursula Le Guin. Come on, what girl wouldn't look up to a female astronaut? And Ursula Le Guin is an incredible writer, though separates her novels from her personal views, isn't quiet about what she views in unjust.
Where is your favorite place to be? In the trees, in the air or on a trail. So, outside.
If you could be any superhero, who would you be? Me! I am my own super hero (my dreads have super powers)! I've got superhuman speed, can climb up walls and can fly without wings. Oh, and mad jar opening skills.

  1. I'm starting to see an unintentional (or intentional?) circus theme.

    1. Lots of our friends are pretty circus. If we can use this to our advantage and make a more interesting day, I'm all for it. Here's to fire performance permits! ;)
